At Downsview Seventh-day Adventist Church, we believe that children are not just the church of the future, but vital participants in the church today. Our Children’s Ministries department is dedicated to nurturing a deep love for Jesus through engaging and interactive weekly programming. This includes our “Children’s Story” segment, led by dedicated teachers like Sister Annette Quest and Sister Cherri-Ann Vincent, who use creative object lessons—such as water purity demonstrations—to teach biblical values and ensure our little ones understand they are precious in His sight. We also feature educational segments like “Professor Noodle,” which challenge our children’s minds with fun Bible quizzes and trivia to help them grow in their knowledge of the Word.
We actively empower our children to discover and use their God-given gifts for ministry. The Downsview Children’s Choir and our “Children’s Talent Show” provide platforms for them to sing, play instruments, and share poetry. Furthermore, our unique “Harvest Time” Evangelistic Series features children as the primary leaders and speakers. During these events, young preachers like Liam and Camila take the pulpit to confidently proclaim the gospel, while others present health nuggets, proving that no one is too young to share the good news of salvation.
Beyond the sanctuary, our ministry encourages discipline and community service through our uniformed clubs. The Adventurers and Pathfinders are integral parts of our youth development, teaching children to support their community—such as reaching out to seniors to offer encouragement—and preparing them to stand true to God. Whether through preaching, singing, or acts of kindness, Downsview Children’s Ministries is committed to training up children in the way they should go, ensuring they have a personal and active relationship with Jesus
